The origin of Lycanthropy, or were-demons, is unknown. The earliest mentions of them date back to the first century CE, but it is likely that they existed earlier. However, based on existing records there seems to have been an insurgence in their population in the 16th century CE, where we see a higher number of witch trials focused on Lycanthropes being conducted in modern day Switzerland.

Humans can be host to nearly any kind of ‘were-beasts’ (not just wolves, though that is most common). Were-demons are birthed when they are attached to a human soul, which allows them to take control over and twist their hosts body to the demons preferred form. As stated, it is unknown when the first instances of were-demons emerged, but it is likely that they evolved out of Skinwalkers.
As many may think, were-sickness, also known as Lycanthropy, is transferred via bite. This is how were-demons ‘procreate’. To prevent the spread of Lycanthropy, you should stay as far as you can from were-beasts. Use lethal force if necessary. If bitten, kill yourself immediately to stop the spread. Remember this- after you are bitten, your body is no longer yours. It is the demons. There is nothing left for you in this world.
Were-beasts have no method of exorcism as of yet. The only way to prevent the spread of were-beasts is to kill any identified were-beast as soon as possible. Any typical method of killing will be effective on Lycanthropes while they are in their human form, and this is the most preferable way to dispatch them. When in their beastly form, only weapons constructed of silver will be effective.
